Once upon a time...
Once upon a time, there were three Dutch-speaking healthcare professionals with a shared dream: a practice in Spain. Back home, the workload, long days, and ever-increasing administrative burdens had become so overwhelming that they could no longer provide the kind of care they aspired to deliver.
Chance brought them together on the Costa del Sol. They soon decided to join forces and offer Dutch-language healthcare services in Fuengirola. The building they rented was named Monte Blanco, and thus Clínica Monte Blanco was born—one of the first Dutch-speaking healthcare centers on the Costa del Sol to bring various medical disciplines together under one roof.
The premises were not in the best condition. Yet, with plenty of creativity, a fresh coat of paint, and some artwork, they transformed the space into a warm, welcoming environment where patients felt at ease and could receive prompt care.
The clinic’s opening did not go unnoticed; news of it spread like wildfire among Dutch-speaking residents and tourists alike. What began as a modest initiative grew, year after year, into a trusted healthcare provider for thousands of patients on the Costa del Sol.
After a few years, it became clear that the original location was becoming too small. Patient numbers continued to rise, and the need for more space and new services grew. Consequently, the clinic moved to a more modern, spacious facility, ready to embark on a new chapter in its history.
But who were these three pioneers? They were dentist Hans Kools, general practitioner Frank Buster, and physiotherapist Stanley Groot. Through their clear vision, they laid the foundation for what Clínica Monte Blanco is today: a multidisciplinary healthcare center where personal attention and high-quality care are paramount.
A new chapter
In the meantime, the original founders have reached or are approaching retirement age. The torch has gradually been passed to a new generation of healthcare professionals who continue to build the story of Clínica Monte Blanco with the same enthusiasm and dedication.
What has remained unchanged over the years is the vision that started it all: personal attention, a listening ear, and quality care for patients of all ages and nationalities.
Frank Buster, a steadfast presence since the very beginning, remains dedicated to his patients. With his knowledge, experience, and familiar presence, he continues to be an indispensable member of the team.
Marielle de Bruin, a familiar face at the practice since its early days, took over Stanley Groot’s patients. Thanks to her experience, commitment, and warm approach, many patients continue to feel right at home at the clinic.
Wojciech Maroszek has been our trusted orthodontist for years and has successfully straightened the teeth of many children. With his calm approach, attention to detail, and a touch of humor, he ensures that not only do the teeth become straighter, but the smile naturally grows wider.
The baton was also passed in the field of dentistry. Didier Sebrechts followed in the footsteps of Hans Kools. Although those were big shoes to fill, he carries on the tradition upon which the clinic built its reputation, driven by the same passion for the profession and the same attentiveness to the patient.
Expansion of healthcare services
To provide even better care for patients, Clínica Monte Blanco has expanded its collaboration to include a network of independent healthcare professionals.
Melushka Quandus joined Mariëlle de Bruin’s team a few years ago; with her gentle touch and firm grip, she alleviates pain and improves her patients' mobility.
Patients at our clinic can also consult psychologist Maryna Khorolska for professional guidance—offering support to those in need of mental health assistance or help navigating personal challenges. Finally, sports physician Mirjam Steunebrink has joined the team, providing prevention, diagnosis, and treatment for sports-related complaints and injuries.
In this way, Clínica Monteblanco continues to evolve without losing sight of its core values: delivering care the way it is meant to be—professional, personal, and attentive to the person behind the patient.
